Reflection of Tradition

Oil on canvas, 16"x20". Here is another painting that's in my show at the Museum of East Texas (936) 639-4434. I painted this from a photo I took in Illinois. Last summer, I took my dad and went to Woodstock, Illinois, for my niece's wedding. Woodstock is about an hour northwest of Chicago. On our way home, in central Illinois, it had been raining and was just beginning to clear from the left. You can still see the rain on the right side of the picture.

CLEARING SKIES

6x8 oil on canvas on panel. I painted this from one of the pictures I took on my recent trip to Illinois. It had been raining and the skies started clearing. It was misty in the distance with the sun peeking out at times.

CRUMBLING WALL oil on canvas on board, 8x10

3/20/10 I painted this in the studio of LaNell Arndt in Brenham. On Saturday, it rained and stormed all morning and then continued to get colder and windier, so about 16 or 18 of us painted here. I was looking out the window at this very old wall behind her studio with the rain collecting in front of it. So, this isn't quite a plein air painting.

RAINY DAY PUDDLES oil on board, 4x6

We've had thunderstorms and buckets of rain since yesterday! I like rain, but I didn't want it to rain today. I had planned to set up in the street for a downtown festival today, to display some art and paint en plein air. Of course, it didn't happen. Hopefully, it will be rescheduled for the near future. This is the view across the street of my neighbor's house with rain falling onto the already soaked ground.

DRIZZLY FALL DAY oil on board, 8x10

11/11/08 I drove to Tyler yesterday and this is an example of some of the scenery along the road. It drizzled, then stormed, then drizzled all day. The mist and fog were beautiful on the gently rolling hills along highway 69 as we drove to and from Tyler.
