oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

This sea shell was loaned to me by a friend. I imagined it on a beach with water in the background.

RED APPLE
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

This little apple was just sitting there calling me. It has been calling me for several days and I decided today would be the day I would paint it. I set it in the sun coming in the window of my studio.

FALL MORNING
oil on canvas, 9"x12"

It was such a beautiful fall morning with crisp air and a cloudless blue sky. This is a plein air painting done from my front yard.

LUCILLE'S FLOWERS
oil on canvas, 4"x6"

These flowers came from Lucille's yard. She keeps a beautiful flower garden.

BOUGAINVILLEA IN GLASS
oil on canvas, 6"x4"

I painted this Saturday. My neighbor, Lucille, has beautiful flowers in her yard. There are several bougainvillea plants on the side of her house next to mine and this is a cutting from one of them. I put it in this glass and set it on the window sill in my studio. The afternoon sun was shining on it making the nice shadow and highlights.

SOLD P.B.&J. ON CUTTING BOARD
oil on panel, 9"x12"

This was a joy to paint! It is peanut butter and strawberry jam on wheat bread. The sandwich is on a cutting board that my father made for my mother shortly after they married 65 years ago.

STRAWBERRY ON MIRROR
oil on canvas, 4"x6"

It's so much fun to paint reflections! This mirror reflects not only the strawberry, but also the window through which you see the sky and tree tops outside my studio.

POMEGRANATE ON SILVER
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I enjoyed painting this because of the beautiful colors and the reflections on the silver. The open window, the objects in my studio, and even I am reflected in the silver plate.

TEAPOT WITH LEMONS
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

This teapot was purchased in an auction. The lemons on it were hand painted by a previous owner.

This pretty little pitcher was purchased at an auction.

PURPLE FLOWERS
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

These purple flowers are growing beside my house. I don't know what they're called, but the plants are about 5 ft. tall. Each evening, the flowers fall off and the next morning new flowers open.
SEA SHELL
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I painted this sea shell Saturday night. A friend brought it to me Friday as a subject to paint. It has such beautiful subtle colors. I laid it on a wet surface and pretended it was on the beach.

A SURVIVOR
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I noticed this little yellow flower growing in a crack in the concrete in the edge of the street in front of my house. What a survivor!

The cars in this jar are part of my husband's Hot Wheels collection.

GUMBALL MACHINE WITH MARBLES
oil on canvas, appr 6"x4"

My husband bought this gumball machine and put his collection of marbles in it. It's a nice way to display the marbles and it's so much fun to paint.

BANANA PEELING
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I decided that since I'd painted a whole banana and a half eaten banana, it was time to paint a banana peeling. It was a little harder to see the original color because as soon as the banana was eaten, the peeling started turning dark. I laid a whole banana beside this peeling to see the colors.

FOUR STRAWBERRIES
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

These are the last 4 strawberries left from the weekend desserts. The sun was shining when I started this painting, thus the shadows and reflections. But, by the time I finished and went outside to photograph the painting, it was sprinkling rain. There are actually a few drops of rain on the painting.

JENNY'S WATER
oil on canvas, appr 6"x4"

Jenny was a guest in our home this weekend and she brought this pretty bottle of Fiji water with her. When she left to return home to Austin, she gave it to me. It was really pretty with the sun shining through it.
HALF EATEN BANANA
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I painted this Saturday evening. It's really hard to hold a banana and paint it. I was tempted to take another bite several times, but I resisted until I was almost finished.

STRAWBERRIES IN GLASS
oil on canvas, appr 6"x4"

I hope as you look at these strawberries you can taste them. I ate one while I was painting these. So, I was using my sense of taste as well as my sense of sight to paint this little still life.

BAMBOO WITH ANGEL CHIME

oil on canvas, appr 6"x4"

This bamboo is in my kitchen window and was given to me by a friend. The angel wind chime was given to me by my niece. The time I spend in the kitchen is more enjoyable because of these beautiful gifts.

This is a little bottle of Red perfume that I received as a gift last Christmas.

ORANGE ON THE WINDOW SILL
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

The orange has warm shadows and cool highlights. The light coming in the window is cool, so the highlights are cool.

CUT LEMON
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I enjoyed the fresh cut lemon aroma as I painted this. Light from the window created shadows and reflections on the shiny plate.
BROWNIE BEANIE
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I painted this on Sunday evening. This beanie is pretty battered and moth-eaten. It looked much better when I wore it as a Brownie in the Girl Scouts many years ago.

PLUM
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

This is Saturday's painting. I had 3 plums and they were all a little different in coloring, so I decided that this one had the nicest color.

BANANA IN SILVER
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

The top of the banana received light from the window while the bottom of the banana had light reflected on it from the silver bowl. And, of course, the banana is reflected in the bowl. Reflections are fun to paint, although they're sometimes difficult.

RED APPLES IN A SILVER BOWL
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

These shiny red apples were fun to paint because of their beautiful colors and the reflections on them from the window and from the silver bowl. I liked painting the light shape between the apples and the reflections of the apples on the bowl, too.

VIOLETS
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"

I found these little violets in my parents' yard this morning. They were so tiny that I had to pick some so I could see them better--either that or lie down on the ground to paint them.

RASPBERRY SYRUP
oil on canvas, appr 6"x4"

Today's painting is a very old bottle that originally contained raspberry syrup. I set it on top of a shiny surface so there would be a reflection of it as well as a back lighted shadow from the window.
GRANNIE SMITH SLICES

oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"
This is Monday's painting. It is the apple I painted Sunday--sliced.
