Tuesday--This is the fourth in my water tower series. I love driving through Refugio, TX. There's the most beautiful church that can be seen before you get into town. I captured the church and the water tower in the same photo that I used to paint this.

This is Ricardo, Texas. I thought it was interesting how this house was between the water tower and the railroad track and highway. I took many pictures of water towers in towns along the way between Lufkin and the Rio Grande Valley on our recent trip. I've thought about doing a series of paintings of water towers. We'll see.

We went to Houston today and dropped by Harris Gallery to check on some of my paintings while we were there. When we started to leave, I stole a gardenia from the yard, put it in a cup of water, and brought it home to paint. I love the way it smells.

CLOUDY DAY FLOWERS

This is a plein air painting. These tiny flowers open in the morning and close in the evening. They're hanging down from a plant that is on the top of a plant stand in my yard. It was cloudy while I was painting, so the colors are somewhat muted.

FUJI APPLE SLICES

I cut this Fuji apple and set it in front of a window in the sun. The pieces with horizontal surfaces were almost white, but the slices where the sun was shinng through their vertical sides were yellow.
