WAITING FOR THE SCHOOL BELL
oil on canvas, appr 6"x6"
I went to a local primary school yesterday to pick up my grandson and took pictures just before school ended for the summer. This woman and her little dog were waiting for her daughter to come out the door.

SQUASH AND NEW POTATOES
oil on canvas, appr 6"x6"
Here are some more of the many vegetables from my Dad's garden. He seems to have a bigger garden every year. The fresh vegetables are so delicious!

RICARDO
oil on canvas, appr 4"x6"
This is Ricardo, Texas. I thought it was interesting how this house was between the water tower and the railroad track and highway. I took many pictures of water towers in towns along the way between Lufkin and the Rio Grande Valley on our recent trip. I've thought about doing a series of paintings of water towers. We'll see.

5/11/08 I painted this from a photo I took on Fannin Street in Houston a few days ago. The wind was bending the grass.

GARDENIA
oil on canvas, appr 5"x7"
We went to Houston today and dropped by Harris Gallery to check on some of my paintings while we were there. When we started to leave, I stole a gardenia from the yard, put it in a cup of water, and brought it home to paint. I love the way it smells.

FROM D'S TURNIP PATCH
oil on canvas, appr 5"x7"
My father has a big garden and this is a turnip from his garden. I have found many subjects in his garden. The plants are so pretty with the sun and shadows on them and the vegetables are pretty and delicious.
