I got a box of chocolate covered cherries for Christmas and put them in the fridge. I forgot all about them until yesterday. What a surprise to find them! I thought I'd better go ahead and paint one before they're all eaten because they won't last long.

Today there's a steady rain and the temperature is hovering in the mid 30s with the possiblity of sleet or snow later. It feels even colder than it is. So, I decided to stay inside and paint some of the ingredients of the soup I'm making today. It's a perfect day for soup...and it's always a perfect day for painting.

These little cookies are traditional Mexican wedding cookies. I made these Tuesday and they are delicious! They are actually a little more cinnamon colored than the photo shows.

This is a new candle I haven't burned, yet. It's in a pretty green glass jar with a lid. Yup, I set it on my window sill and enjoyed painting all the reflections and shadows.

Today, New Year's Eve, we went to Mexico to shop. Among other things, we bought a bag of avocados. Since it's against the law to bring the seeds across the border, the venders cut open all the avocados and place a slice of jalapeno pepper in the cavity. The jalapeno keeps them from turning brown.
