SOLD  Acrylic on canvas, 53 x 83 inches.  I painted this Paris cafe scene for Dinner and Dancing Under the Stars at the Museum of East Texas.  The theme for the party is Paris.

A Eureka Moment

SOLD  Oil on canvas, 12 x 12 x 1 1/2 inch gallery wrapped canvas.  (The painting continues around onto the sides of the canvas.)  We have lots of ruby throated hummingbirds right now.  I think it's migration season.  I took pictures of many of them and of my hanging baskets and put pictures together for this painting.  I am donating it to the auction at the Museum of East Texas fundraiser, Dinner and Dancing, which is this weekend.

Solitude

Solitude, oil on canvas,  20x24 inches.  This is a spring-fed pond on my son's property in East Texas.  I painted this from a photo I took when I visited him last fall.  It's a peaceful place in the country.  This painting is presently displayed in the annual Angelina College Faculty Exhibition through the end of September.

The Evening Meal

The Evening Meal, oil on canvas, 20 x 24 inches.  I painted this from a photo I took at my dad's farm.  It is a peaceful, beautiful place.  I hope, when you see this, that you can feel the peace.

July Morning

July Morning, plein air, oil on canvas on panel, 12 x 9 inches.  This is another park painting, but I used "artistic license" to add water where there was no water.  It was a beautiful morning to be painting in the Grace Dunn Richardson Park. 

Beside the Lake

Beside the Lake, plein air, oil on panel, 12 x 9 inches.  What a beautiful day it was!  Three of us met at the Ellen Trout Zoo Lake and painted until it got too hot.  Here in East Texas, it gets hot pretty early this time of year. 

Desert Willow at Brandon Park

Desert Willow at Brandon Park, plein air, 8x10 inches,oil on panel.  It was a beautiful spring morning at Brandon Park!    This tree with the pink blossoms caught my eye, and I had to paint it. 

The Path

The Path, plein air, palette knife painting, oil on panel, 5 x 7 inches.  I was so mesmerized by the beauty of the morning that I painted a second scene in Herty Park.  There was no one else around except for one man who walked on that path while we painted.  It was such a pleasant place.

Herty Park

Herty Park, plein air, oil on canvas on panel, 12 x 16 inches. The weather was perfect this morning as we painted another park in Lufkin.  Herty Park is hidden in a neighborhood.  You would never find it if you weren't looking for it.  It's a beautiful, quiet place.  I loved the 8:00 am shadows and had to work quickly to establish the shadow pattern before it changed.

Watercolor Sketches

Wildflowers, watercolor on paper, 9 x 12 inches.  Sketching with watercolors is always fun and relaxing.  I love oil paints, but using watercolors to sketch is very freeing (is that a word?).

I love trains!  I see these trains rolling through town almost every day.   There are others I plan to paint, also.  I love to hear them--the rumble and the horns.  Even if I'm miles away, on a quiet night I can hear them.

Royalty

SOLD  Oil on canvas on panel, 5"x7".  This was painted from life.  Pomegranates are such regal fruits.   

Evening Beauty

Oil on canvas on panel, 9"x12".  This began as a plein air painting, but I completed it in the studio.  Evening is such a beautiful time of day!  This place is at my dad's farm in Leon County, Texas.  It's a beautiful place any time of day, any season, in any weather.

Painting the Parks

...Lufkin parks, that is.  Here are my 3 latest Lufkin Parks plein air paintings.  My friend, Barb, and I plan to paint all the Lufkin parks.  We started in April, and so far, we've painted 4.  All of these are 8x10 oil on panel.

Spring in Chambers Park

SOLD Plein air 8x10 inches, oil on panel.  I met a friend at Chambers Park and we painted this morning.  It was fun, and the weather was perfect.

Grazing

SOLD  Oil on gallery wrapped canvas, 6 x 12 inches.  The 1 1/2" edges are also painted.   I painted this from a photo I took at my dad's farm in central Texas.  Can you see how peaceful it is there?

On the Bank

Oil on canvas, 30x36 .  This is a lake near Longview, Texas.  It's the same lake I painted in A Pause for Thought, just a different view. 

A Pause for Thought

16x20 oil on canvas.  This is a lake in East Texas which is a really pretty, peaceful place.  I love places like this.  I used several photos which I took about a year ago.  I had fun painting this--the paint just seemed to flow from the brush.  That doesn't happen very often.

Primary Colors

SOLD  Oil on 1 1/2" deep gallery wrap canvas, 6"x12".  I often see these trains in the mornings, and I have taken pictures of them several times.  Occasionally, they were all three there at the same time.

To the House

This is an 8"x10" oil on panel plein air painting of the driveway leading up to my dad's farm house.  The huge tree is an old elm that is beautiful in all seasons. 

Wilton Bailey

NFS 10x8 oil on panel.  This is a portrait of my Uncle Wilton.  I started this portrait from a photo I took of him about 2 years ago, but I got busy and had to put it aside.  I decided I was going to finish it this week, and I did!  I hope you can see what a kind and wonderful man he is.

Breakfast

SOLD Oil on panel, 9"x9"  My dad made pancakes for breakfast, and I added strawberries and bananas.  It was delicious!

SOLD Oil on linen, 18"x14" detail.  This is a commissioned portrait I just finished.  Painting portraits is a challenge, but one I love.  Although I love to paint landscapes and almost any subject, the human face is still my favorite.

Peace

Plein air, 8"x10", oil on panel.  It was such a beautiful, peaceful day with clouds slowly floating overhead at the farm.  I just HAD to paint the scene!
